How to Draw a Car part 1:
In apart one we learn to break down the shapes in an image of a car. When I draw from an image, I like to break down the shapes and work out the proportions first. Drawing cars is not easy in my opinion. Getting the angles and perspective right can be tricky so don’t be frustrated if you have to work it several times. I usually have to draw something three times before I really feel like I have studied it enough to do a good job with it. usually I do the proportion breakdown in my head, but it helps to actually trace over the image to get the feel of it.
How to Draw a Car Part - 2:
In part two of How to draw a car - Ferrari, we transfer the proportions of the car to the clean page and rough sketch the Ferrari. We continue to refine the drawing until we are ready to move on to dark lines and further refinement. Hopefully this gives you insight as to how some artist work out a drawing. After drawing for a long time, you will likely be able to see these proportions without having to think as much about them and then it feels more natural and fluid. While some may have this as a natural talent, it certainly can be learned. As I draw more, my work improves and as you draw more, so will yours! Have fun drawing!
How to Draw a Car Part - 3:
In part three of How to draw a car - Ferrari, we will refine our drawing by going over our blue sketch with black lines. This is an opportunity to make corrections and add detail. Continue to check the proportions of your photo reference and make adjustments as needed. The car may not come out exactly as it is in the photo but it can still be a pleasing drawing. Keep at it and each effort will yield better and better results. As I draw more, my work get s better and as you draw more so will yours!
