Students: Get ready to learn how to draw and paint and create computer art and computer animation.
If you enjoy art, I think you'll like Jumbosmart Homeschool Art Curriculum and Enrichment. Not only will you enjoy learning art, but while you are developing your skills as an artist, you'll probably also learn other great stuff like math and history without even trying. Learning stuff without trying! Now that's Jumbosmart!
You can't really separate art from math or science or history, it all mixes together. History is recorded in art. So art and history often work together. Understanding the science behind art, exploring light and color, and discovering the way we see the world with our human eyes will improve your art and ability to create. Math helps us describe and understand the patterns and the structures we see in God's creation and it teaches us how to create pleasing images. So, this site is about learning art, but it also about much much more. It's also about being smart!
Teachers: Teaching art can be quite challenging without good tools and resources.
I know teaching art can be challenging because I had no idea how to begin teaching my four kids art in our homeschool despite being an art professional and a college animation instructor. Fortunately I discovered kids really enjoy using drawing worksheets and watching art video lessons. So, I created this site of homeschool art curriculum to help us teach art to our kids.
To get started, try out the the free downloadable grid drawing worksheets and free video lessons. If you can join in with your kids, go right ahead, you know they will love it.
We have just launched a new website in collaboration with a fantastic artist, Don Howard. It’s called “How to Draw and Paint Smart.” Initial Response to the site so far has been tremendous. It was originally conceived as a resource for Home School kids but it seems a lot of people are looking both fun recreational drawing projects and art instruction. We are going to strive to meet those needs by adding new lessons each week. I had several moms tell me they excited about picking up on drawing skills they have not used since 3rd grade. The want to be able to draw their own birthday adn holiday cards and work on those with thier kids. We are making sure we have plenty of holiday related simple to draw images to help out. It is a joy to be able to draw things and we are excited to share that.
So, If you are excited about free online drawing lessons, check out How-to-Draw-and-Paint-Smart.com and please tell your friends! Post a link in a your blogs, face book pages, and home school networks. Thanks!
Drawing a 5-point star can be tricky to say the least. Here’s how you can get a perfect star every time. wit this technique you can make stars of any size. It’s pretty easy, so give it a try.
1. Use a compass or any round object to draw circle.
2. Find the center of that circle and use a protractor to mark off 72 degree points around the circle. You can use a printable protractor if you do not have one. Since a circle is commonly divided into 360 parts called degrees, we can divide 360 by 5 an get 72 ( so 5 x 72 = 360).
3. Connect the dots to get your star. I recommend using a ruler. If you have a transparent ruler, that can help. You can even use a part of a CD case cover as a ruler or use anything straight.
4. You can also connect the dots to make a pentagon. A 5-pointed star and a pentagon can share the same points.. it just depends on how you connect them.

Learning to use 3D animation software such as Blender has much in common with learning a musical instrument. Just like learning to play the guitar or piano, you and your fingers will develop a memory for the the keyboard and mouse moves that will allow you to create with proficiency. It will take some patience and some practice, but the reward will be the ability to create amazing objects, images, animations and games with competence and confidence. Whatever talents God has endowed you with, add to it persistence and determination to master the skills to develop those talents.
